A Note from the BUG Leader - Christian Brell
So who am I? My name is Christian Brell cbrell and I work as a software engineer, trainer and consultant for a software company called Orientation in Objects (OIO). OIO is a Java and XML competency center that offers software development both at fixed and agile price. In addition, we offer consulting and training for Java open source frameworks and tools (like BIRT, Eclipse, Jira, ..), Java application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, ..) and project management techniques (Scrum,…).
I have been using BIRT since 2006. One of my first projects while working for Orientation in Objects was to evaluate BIRT and to compare it with existing reporting solutions in the company. Starting with BIRT 2.0 we agreed to use it as a standard framework to meet the reporting needs in our software projects. Since that time I have used and integrated BIRT in a lot of different projects. Because I've been using BIRT for quite a while, I feel committed to the BIRT project in a special way.
So what do we do? The BIRT User Group Mannheim is an independent group of people who are interested in the BIRT Framework. A typical user group meeting is dedicated to a special topic and starts with one or two presentations with round table discussions afterwards. All our meetings take place at Orientation in Objects in Mannheim and are free of charge (we regularly meet about 4 times a year).
Sounds like fun…how can I join? Everyone interested in BIRT (novice and pros) is invited to participate in our user group. You can join us through our XING Group to be informed about our meeting.
