You can request your own group or register for an existing group. Groups allow community members to band together to work on common projects or to communicate about topics that don't fit with the forums. Groups can be private or public and all traffic is archived for each group and accessible on each group's page. Once you have registered for a group you can send e-mail to every member either through the group's e-mail alias or post messages directly from the group's page.
