NPE on export to Advanced Function Printing

Anytime a user attempt so export to AFP we are getting:

java.lang.NullPointerException

at org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.nLayout.area.impl.C ontainerArea.accept(ContainerArea.java:274)
at org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.layout.emitter.Page Emitter.startPage(PageEmitter.java:51)
at org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.nLayout.LayoutEngin e.outputPage(LayoutEngine.java:893)
at org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.nLayout.area.impl.P ageArea.outputPage(PageArea.java:696)

nothing else to add really. It does it every time for every report.

This appears to be caused by not having an X11 instance on the server that Actuate is running on. Actually, quite a few error that we were having were fixed once we installed X11
