Hy,

I have created a birt report with amount along with currency as one of the column. The problem is that when we tries to see it in the excel, excel reports are showing the amount as "number stored as text" and thats why its not possible to make any calculations there. The amount data type in the reports are saved as decimal.

Pls suggest on the same. I'm attaching the report.

Thanks

Can you try one of the other XLS outputs available? If not, try these two:

Hi

Thanks for your quick reply, I used both emitters but did not find the solution. I think some Version specific.

I am using Birt 3.2.14 version. PLease suggest some other solution or I can make Birt 3.2.14 version these emitter dependent.

You could try the Tribix one, for your version. I'm guessing you have BIRT 2.2.0, based on the Eclipse version you gave above. I don't remember if it gives a number output or text for numbers.

In currency amount column go to properties and changes the number format as fixed.. then if you export as xls you can able to calculate.

I just checked in the most recent version and in 2.2.1 and I don't have to do anything to the number to perform calculations on it when exported to Excel. I don't have a copy of 2.2.0, but I do have 2.1.3. If you aren't able to do this, let me know and I'll take a look in a version before yours. If that works, I'll download 2.2.0 and try it.

Michael

The SpudSoft emitters would get this right (and if they don't I'll fix 'em 'til they do), but they may not work before BIRT 2.5.
Is upgrading your BIRT version possible?
