Hi,

I'm trying to use MS-excel as a data source for my reporting in Rational Team Concert (RTC). I'm don't see any option to do that. I'm using BIRT 2.5.2 for my reporting. As RTC 3.0. supports only BIRT 2.5.2 I can't use any advanced version. Can any one help me how can I use MS-excel as data source?.

I have tried to get some information from BIRT exchange and followed the steps given in the given link http://www.birt-exch...20110930063129/ but still I'm not able to get Excel as a data source.

Your help highly appreciated.

Hi,

i think that the data source should also work with BIRT 2.5.2. I developed a Spreadsheet Data Source that supports BIRT 2.5-3.7.1 and there were not much changes to be done to my code to support older versions of BIRT.

I don't know about the data source because i m not the developer of that plugin. Have you tried to copy both jar files to the plugin sub directory?

Perhaps you wan't to try my Spreadsheet Data Source too. It can read data from Excel97-2011 and OpenOffice ODS files. See dev share: http://www.birt-exch...and-openoffice/
The plugin supports BIRT 2.5-3.7.1. So you can run it in any version of BIRT starting with BIRT 2.5.0
If you evaluate my plugin i would be really happy to hear back from you!

I have just seen that the developer of the other plugin depend on a specific version of BIRT. You will have to download the sources and edit the MANIFEST.MF file to remove dependence to specific version. Once you changed to files and recompiled to a jar file i m nearly sure that the other plugin will work with BIRT 2.5 too.

Hi,

The stuff is really nice! However I have one slight problem, which drives me nuts and don't know if it's me missing something or is it simply impossible to be done.
I've created joint data set, which merges two data sets together (Excel and other data set), so far it works ok. However when I want to make computed field, which takes data from Excel table and adds them to the data from other data set it doesn't work... I mean the calculation is not done at all just as if data from Excel were invisible for BIRT... I've tried to do it on plenty ways and still no result.

Is there something I should do in order to make it work?

Thanks in advance for reply,

Aga
