Hi all

I am new to Birt. I want to use Birt interactive view on generated report, but I can only see the context menu of interactive view on the grouped column in a table. From the demo video, it seems the menu of filter and group is available on any table element and you can dynamically add filters and groups on any column of the table. Is that a function not available in the evaluation version of iServer?

Please give me some tips, since that function is very critical to me. And after that I am able to make decision that if I need to buy the iServer.

Thanks very much
Fei

Hi Fei,
The context menu is available on any column in the table and allows you to dynamically add filters and group selected column. After enabling interactive viewer use the right click button to invoke the context menu on the desired column. You can also customize it to hide/show certain functions from your end users. The evaluation version of BIRT iServer comes with fully enabled Interactive Viewer.

Is there a special table and columns that I need design to get the dynamic filter and group function?
Because I can only filter and group on the grouped columns. and after I enable the interactive view, it can not add column and remove column dynamically, please help.
Could you please kindly give me some example for me to follow, like the sample report.

Thanks
Fei

Hi Fei,
There are plenty of sample reports in the public folder. I am also attaching a plain listing report that does not have any grouping. You should be able to run and interact with it in your BIRT iServer. I tried it at my end and I was able to filter and group any column. Make sure you are using one of the supported browsers.

hi

it is weird, I can not do anything on the table element. no grouping or filter. I added the report you give to me by iserver management console, and run it in the iserver. but after I enabled the interactive view, nothing happened.

Thanks
Fei

Support for FF 4 is coming soon, meanwhile it still supports older versions of FF. Check out the product specifications page for more details:
