Hi All,
I am using BIRT 2.1.2. I want to display footer in every page.
May I know how to do that?

Explanation:
I am doing PR report for with BIRT 2.1.2. I use this version of BIRT because their MAXIMO 7 only support this version of BIRT reporting tool. I did grouping by PRNUM and the footer I set in master page. But the footer in master page cannot view in every page(pdf). So, I tried in group footer, but group footer only appear in last after group data appeared. How i can do page footer appear in every page?

Please help me, urgent. Thank You.

Hi KinG,

The master page footer should be displayed on every page of PDF. The group footer will not as you said. If you want a group footer to display on every page, you'd have to create an interval grouping that will only fit the amount of detail lines that'll fit on a page so that a group footer apears on each page.

Hi william,

As you said, master page footer should appear on every page. But, I put some data in master page footer and these data only appear for several pages only. If I am not mistaken, master page only appear parameters field, label and page Autotext field only. The data field cannot appear in every page.

Let say, my report generated 20 pages, the data field will appear for 5 pages only. So, Is there any way to do it in master page footer?

So, how can I do an interval grouping? Can you show me please?

Thanks William.

KinG,

Can you explain more about your application? What is your data like? What are you wanting to be displayed at the bottom of each page? Let me know so I can make any example I make more specific to what you're trying to do. Thanks!

Michael

Hi william,
We are doing MAXIMO 7.1.1.4 for our client. So, I am doing reporting with BIRT 2.1.2.
Our client wants PO Detail report and PR Detail report. I need to apply page footer method in both PO and PR
report.Let me explain the PR report first. This PR Detail report will show 1 PR in each page. So, this
report similar to prprint.rptdesign. This report will starts with a table with 1 header, 1 detail, and 1
footer.
The structure of this report as below:-
Table Header : Image, lables(company name, report title)
Table Detail : Group1 Header1(Group by PRNUM) : PRNUM and STATUS
Group1 Header2 : Labels from prline table.
Group2 Header1(Group by PRLINENUM) : Datas from prline table.
Group2 Detail1 : datas from prcost table(which will have more then 1 gldebitacct in each
prline item)
Group1 Footer1 : Label(Grand Total),Data(Grand Total)
Table Footer : Labels and Datas from pr table

I need to make this table footer appear in every page.
This structure will make the table header appear in every page but the table footer will only appear in last page. So, How I can make this table footer appear in every page?

Advance thanks.

KinG,

Take a look at this sample report. It shows a simple interval group on the table.

KinG,

Are your line heights fixed? Or do they vary line by line?

Hi William,

Kindly be informed that the solution that I got can be applied in PR report because the PR report will be printed in blank paper.

But PO report, I need further modification because I need to fix the footer to fit into the box in preprinted paper(the paper that already printed labels).

Yes, the line height fixed(Header, detail and footer). The header have no problem(its fixed in 1 place). But the footer have problem(cannot fixed in 1 place, the footer depends on the detail row. If the detail row very long, the footer will go to next page). The footer height fixed and this footer must fit in to the label in the paper(preprinted paper).

If your line heights are all fixed, take a look at the following report from the devShare. It might help you out. I came up with this method to help someone having a similar issue as you with a fixed line height. Let me know.

Hi William,
In order to see the output of the file from the website that you gave the link just now, I am downloading BIRT 2.5 now. In meantime, may I know whether this report function for the footer is available for BIRT 2.5 only or can work with BIRT 2.1.2 also?

Thank You William.

KinG,

You should also be able to do this in 2.1.2 unless there is some bug that prevents it from working correctly. Let me know if you have issues.

Michael

KinG,

Galileo is 2.5.x. What is the issue you're having with the download?

Last time you gave me a link to a forum regarding my footer problem. The sample report in that forum build in BIRT 2.5.0.
I download the designer that compressed to zip file named eclipse-reporting-galileo.zip.
I am doubted and curious to know, how I can check the BIRT version for this zip file?
So, I can straightly use that designer to open and run this sample report right?

Actually, the designer that I downloaded was corrupted, so I need to re-download that designer.
Since our internet here very slow, I want to check first before I download whether I am downloading the right file(BIRT designer).

Thank You.

KinG,

If the design was built in 2.5.0, as long as you get a 2.5.0 build or newer, you should be able to view the report with no issues. Below is a link to the download for the 2.5.2 download so that you'll for sure be able to open the design. :)

Hi William,

Sorry friend for my late reply.
After taking a long holiday, I come back to office today.

1) I want to know where I can get information about the differences between BIRT 2.1.2,2.3.2,2.5.0,2.5.2?
I really need to know this. Help me friend.

2) I want to know, is this footer problem can be solved with other BIRT version?

Thank You.

1) Take a look at this: http://wiki.eclipse....RT_Project_Plan

For earlier versions, see the archive at the bottom.

2) The example I made above handles this issue if you have fixed line heights. There is another forum post where I described to someone what they'd have to do to get variable line heights to work this same way. I did not create an example, but I believe they described the code they used. I'll look for it and post a link to it in here. You can always request an enhancement to future versions of BIRT for this feature at http://www.birt-exch.../bug-reporting/

Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Michael

Hi rogue,

If it's not something that can be put into the master page footer statically or using the auto-text page variables, it gets to be difficult to place a footer on every page if the line height varies. The only things I can even think of trying would be pretty messy hacks. You can always put in a request for a feature that is more exactly what you're looking for at http://www.birt-exch...bug-reporting/.

Michael
