Hi,

I use jsapi to access report deploy in iServer 10 SP1.

I usually use the "export content" in the toolbar to export report to word, pdf, excel and etc.

When i export report to excel format (word is the same), i got a big .xls file (28M ), and it is in fact a xml file. I open it with office 2003, and re-save it to a real xls file(select extended name when execute save as). Then, the real xls file is just 2M.

Can I export my report directly to a real xls file? (I can not config it in jsapi toolbar popup window when exporting )

Thanks.

BIRT supports the Office XML formats which is why you are seeing the an Excel and Word export produce XML.

In Actuate version 11, a new Excel emitter will be introduced which will produce true Excel files and even preserve some of the formulas and live charts. You can try out a milestone build of Actuate 11 at Actuate 11 - BIRT Wiki - BIRT Exchange

Hi, rmurphy

Could I integrated the new Excel emitter (in Actuate version 11) with Eclipse BIRT 2.5?

Thanks a lot.

I suppose you could, but I have never tried. If you purchase and Actuate BIRT Engine licencse, why not just use that. The Actuate BIRT Engine uses the same Eclipse BIRT core and just adds extensions.
