I am using the e.Spreadsheet API com.f1j to access the Excel. The Excel contains a number of input fields and a result field (cell) which contain a formular with VB macros based on the values from the input fields (cells). When I use the API to get the value from the result field, I got a different number than what is produced in the Excel.

I thought the APi will just read the value from the cell and not excute the formula.

Is API able to read the cell that contains formula with VB macros?

The ess engine does not have the ability to execute VBA. If you are opening up a worksheet created by excel and try to read the value from a cell that contains VBA references, I suspect it would either throw an error or return the result of the previous calculation that had been performed by excel. It should not attempt to calculate a new value, since it is incapable of executing the VBA.

Is this still the case? Can BIRT Spreadsheet Engine still not recalculate a VB macro? If we need that functionality, does anybody know of a spreadsheet engine that can handle that?

There are only some good programs in the world for solving such issues. First of them is the next to my mind. Because several weeks ago it aided me much in like trouble and demonstrated such capabilitiy as resolving almost all types of such troubles connected with ms excel - excel 2002 font problem.

If you remember the name of the program that solved this problem for you, I would really like to know what it is, please. What is the name of this program? I have seen a program call Zoho, but their remote engine is not quite what we are looking for...however they do handle VB macros natively. What else have you seen.?
