The winner of the BIRT Exchange Contributor of the Month Contest for December 2011 is Hans van Dorst for his contribution to BIRT Exchange titled: BIRT drop group header property and table border lines.
Hans said, "I wrote this post after reading about the drop property on the forums. I had never heard of it before but I thought it is a very nice feature, so I started playing around with it. Soon I noticed that using the drop property on a report table with table border lines didn't work out all that perfectly. So I started looking for a workaround and when I found it, wrote a blogpost about it. I'd also like to mention another post I wrote about the drop property for XLS and DOC output reports: BIRT drop group header property with DOC output type.
Hans lives in Belgium and has been working with BIRT for almost two years. His team did a proof of concept at a client's site, investigating the possibilities of integrating BIRT with the enterprise application and building example reports. They also installed Actuate iServer at the client. Hans said, "My main task in this project was the tight integration with the Oracle application that we have here: we submit jobs on the iServer from within the database using IDAPI, reports write logs in the database, etc."
He chose a $200 Amazon Gift Card for his award.
We also want to thank the other eligible DevShare contributors for participating in this month's contest:
It's not too late... to get your own DevShare article posted in time for next month's contest that closes on January 31st. If you"ve cooked up something that you can share with the BIRT Exchange community, please post it soon! You can create a tutorial, build a BIRT application, template or component, or write up some of the tips and solutions to problems you've run into during the past -- anything that's helped you use BIRT more effectively will probably be useful to others too. And don't forget the BIRT Exchange Marketplace. A code-based DevShare submission could also be a great candidate for the Marketplace.
See the Contributor of the Month Contest Rules and the list of previous winners for more information about the contest.
AND DON'T FORGET TO ENTER the BIRT Style Contest before its deadline on February 9, 2012. Submit your implementation of a BIRT style to DevShare for a chance to win a Kindle Fire!
