Last Week in the Forums: Formatting a Field to Show only 1 Decimal Place, Show Parameter Page even when Parameters are Passed in the URL, and more...

This blog series takes a look back at the past week in the forums, recalling how active they were and highlights some of the questions asked that seem to frequent the forums or other interesting topics. The forums have been very busy all year. Keep the questions and answers coming! As always, thanks to those members who are helping answer questions. It is a great help to the community!

The first topic for this week is about showing only once decimal place in a float field. The poster had a filed that could show a value with many decimal places and some with no decimal places. They wanted all to be rounded to the nearest tenth. The solution to this is to go to the number format section in the property editor to set the format of the number to only show one decimal place.

The second topic for this week is aboutshowing the parameter page even when all the parameters are passed in the URL. The poster was wanting to be able to pass values for all the parameters through the report URL, but still wanted to show the parameter page. When they passed all the required parameters, they were getting the report rather than the parameter page. The solution here was to use the __parameterpage=true url parameter to cause the parameter page to show up no matter what.

The last topic for this week is about crosstab rows headers. The poster wanted to know how to add headers for the crosstab row dimension values. The solution to this is to use a grid in the upper left block in the crosstab. The earliest versions of BIRT didn't allow this, but it's been possible to use this area of the crosstab since around BIRT 2.2, I believe.

Again, this is just a small sample of what went through the forums this past week. For more questions and answers that have been posted, check out the forums. As always, if you have a question, feel free to ask it, and if you see a question you know the answer to or have a similar experience to, feel free to post an answer or comment.
